In one corner, Phantom staged an incredible comeback to edge out Vinyl 76-73, while in the other, Mist delivered a dominant performance, crushing Rose with a 90-64 scoreline.
Phantom's Dynamic Duo Dominates Vinyl

Her efforts earned her the coveted Player of the Game award. Not to be outdone, Kelsey Plum contributed 30 points of her own, shooting a remarkable 50 percent from the field. Together, this dynamic duo accounted for a colossal 63 out of Phantom's 76 points! This was truly an extraordinary display from what many consider the premier guard-big combination in the Unrivaled league.
This crucial win not only highlighted Boston and Plum's individual brilliance but also clinched a playoff spot for Phantom, marking them as the second team in the Unrivaled league to secure their place in the postseason.
But here's where it gets interesting... Even with Boston and Plum performing at such an elite level, the game was far from a walk in the park for Phantom. Midway through the third quarter, Vinyl held an 11-point lead. However, Phantom ignited a powerful rally. Boston scored from the paint, Kiki Iriafen added a crucial basket, Natasha Cloud drained a three-pointer, and Boston followed up with another shot from beyond the arc, rapidly narrowing the deficit to just one point.
Vinyl managed to regain some composure and entered the fourth quarter with a 65-61 advantage. Plum and Iriafen responded with four unanswered points, once again bringing Phantom within striking distance. Yet, Vinyl continued to hold them off with timely baskets from Erica Wheeler, Rhyne Howard, and Brittney Griner.
With the winning score set at 76 and Vinyl at 73, victory was tantalizingly close for them. And this is the part most people miss... their shots began to cool down, and Kelsey Plum seized the moment. She sank a clutch three-pointer to give Phantom the lead and then, with a dazzling pump fake and intricate footwork, she outmaneuvered her Los Angeles Sparks teammate, Rae Burrell, to seal the game-winning basket.
For Vinyl, this season has been a significant disappointment. They've faced considerable challenges throughout the year, and with a current record of 4-7, simply making the playoffs would be a considerable achievement. Despite a solid effort from Rhyne Howard, who scored 22 points, and an efficient 14 points from Dearica Hamby on 60 percent shooting, a critical lapse in the third quarter and some missteps in offensive execution down the stretch led to yet another disheartening loss where they surrendered a lead.
Mist's Decisive Victory Over Rose
Meanwhile, the matchup between Mist and Rose was effectively decided before it truly began. Rose had already made headlines earlier on Monday due to a significant three-player trade involving Breeze and Hive. Courtney Williams was traded from Vinyl to Breeze, Saniya Rivers moved from Hive to Vinyl, and Azurá Stevens transitioned from Rose to Hive. This marked the first in-season trade in the history of the Unrivaled league.
It's possible that the disruption caused by this trade impacted Rose's ability to compete, as their game against Mist quickly turned lopsided. In the opening quarter, Rose showed resilience, with Shakira Austin and Chelsea Gray scoring effectively, keeping them within two points after seven minutes of play. However, the tide turned dramatically in the second quarter as Mist intensified their pressure, and Rose struggled to respond.
Breanna Stewart found her rhythm, Allisha Gray contributed significantly to the backcourt offense, and once Arike Ogunbowale caught fire, Mist's lead quickly surged into double figures. Stewart continued Mist's momentum in the second half with a layup, officially extending their lead to 20 points. Rose was unable to muster any significant comeback or match Mist's intensity, effectively sealing the outcome of the game. Ogunbowale, who was named Player of the Game, poured in 29 points, while Gray was exceptional with 19 points on 70 percent shooting, and Stewart added 16 points and 11 rebounds.
In defeat, Shakira Austin was a standout for Rose with 19 points, and Chelsea Gray contributed 17 points. Rose still has a path to the playoffs and an opportunity to defend their title.
